Mark wanted to have one feline dance craze on the album - a cat version of the Twist or the Frug or the Mashed Potato. But it was thin pickings, except for his daughter's suggestion that he write a new dance called "Do the Litter Tray". And then he remembered a very obscure composition by Leroy Anderson...
Everyone knows at least one Leroy Anderson tune because you hear it everywhere in the six weeks before Christmas: "Just hear those sleigh bells jing-a-ling, ring-ting-ting-a-ling too..." But he also composed this insistent tune for a flop Fifties musical set in the Twenties. Mark and Kevin bring it forward to give it a Sixties groove that'll keep the kitties twistin' all the way to the finish. |
